I don't think there's anything wrong with Solaris, or Linux for that matter (although as Linux becomes more user-friendly, I suspect the typical default install will become more vulnerable). I use Windows more, myself, and I'm more familiar and comfortable with it, but I think that Unix is certainly easier to manage, if you know what you're doing.
