Hmmm, I can't see how this would work. CFMX would have been installed with the standalone server...when you open CFMX admin, does it show port 8500 in the URL? I'm pretty sure that CFMX standalone wouldn't install to port 80 as Macromedia doesn't consider the built-in webserver to be "production quality". Website probably is listening on port 80 (check in Website properties) while CFMX is listening in port 8500.
