How's this for a timely question...

Up until now, I haven't given much thought to the need, or requirements of
moving to CFMX, but we're approaching a slow time of year and if we're going
to upgrade servers, now would probably be the best time to do it.

We run several CF5 servers on IIS5 and Windows 2000 Server.  The hardware
platform for each of these servers consists of dual PIII Tualatin 1.26 GHz
CPU, 1 GB of ECC RAM and hardware mirrored 10k RPM SCSI drives.

First off, can I expect performance on the above platforms to be better,
worse, or about the same with CFMX?

Are there code changes that may be necessary?  Difficult to tell, I realize,
without seeing our code, but it's probably fair to say that we use pretty
much the gamut of CF tags and functions, although we're not doing anything
particularly fancy.

Are cfx tags still usable?

Is Windows Server 2003 the recommended platform for CFMX or is Windows 2000
just as suitable?

What is the (recommended) upgrade path?  Uninstall and reinstall, or upgrade
the current CF installation?  We've got a limited number of servers, so doing
clean installs with minimal downtime could be difficult, especially if we
also migrate from Win2k to Win2k3.  That's generally how I prefer to do an OS
migration, so maybe we'll just have to bite the bullet and do all at once,
despite a bit of downtime.

What other issues should I be thinking about?

Thanks,
Jim
