Thanks - I went back an looked and saw where we'd edited the jrun-web.xml on 
the 6.1 box.  I agree, the virt dir in IIS is a better (more visible and 
memorable) solution.

If the directory is outside the webroot, you need a JRun mapping (in
jrun-web.xml in your WEB-INF directory), not a CF mapping.  JRun
mappings are basically the same as IIS's virtual directories, just
only for JRun-served resources.  I'd recommend the web-server mapping
though, rather than a JRun mapping.  Less apt to get forgotten on new
servers, and more obvious what's going on.
