I'm honestly not sure off-hand whether it is the database or the
server that is switching to single user. (That's what the boss told me
was the reason that he wrote the script and he's not available right
now for me to ask. Something about sleep.)

The most frequently run maintenance plan is a backup of the
transaction logs that happens every 4 hours. But the restarts happen
less than every 2.5 hours and not on a regular schedule (at least not
that I've noticed so far. I am building up logs to track this so I can
see if there are restarts at certain times of day). The rest of the
maintenance plans are running every night or every week, and
succeeding, which I find totally astounding.

Thanks for the input!
