I wouldn't say "easily" as such. NNTP is a protocol, and what would be required
would be a custom tag designed to talk directly to NNTP protocol servers on TCP
port 119.
I don't know whether such a custom tag exists (but would be interested to find
out), but if not it should be easy enough to write one. NNTP is a fairly simple
protocol like SMTP.
