PLEASE tell me you're not thinking of using PWS as a production server...
PWS is Peer Web Server - note the word Peer (as in Peer to Peer), it is NOT
meant
for use in the big wide world...
We're using Website 2.4.9 without any problems, and have been using it since
the
early v2 days... I'd be surprised if you're having big problems.
If you're having big problems with Website, then why not join the Website
talk list
(via O'Reilly's site) and see if one of the people there can help. Technical
people from ORA are there all the time, and if they can't help, then they go
directly
to tech who can.
We run several IIS machines (NT Server's web server) and it's free... that's
the
only thing I can say in it's favour over Website (apart from the fact it
naturally
runs M$ ASP, while Website needs IIS behind it). IIS has so many bugs that
they
provide a Rentokil contract with it! Check the list of vunerabilities.
Also, remember the fact that more people attack M$ software (via hacks or
virii)
than any other software - so there's a greater liklihood that someone will
find a
hole in IIS than in Website.
I'd rather run Website than IIS any day, and wouldn't touch PWS for a public
site.
