I'm running Studio 4.5.1a on a Windows95, PenIII, Dell here at work ... it's
been rock solid since installing the patch two weeks ago. Not a single
access violation, RDS works great -- I haven't found a single problem since
installing the fix (and my previous problems weren't even involving the
things the patch supposedly patches -- I had a whole other set of problems).
As for using Win95, I totally agree, Mr. Watts. It is crap. But what do you
do when the IS department continually responds with "We don't support NT."
I haven't been able to bang through that wall despite repeatedly banging it
with my head. I just can't convince anybody that matters that professional
developers need a professional OS, which in the Win world means only NT or
2000.
I have stabilized the OS quite a bit the last four or five weeks, however.
I turned off the graphic accelerator and I've reduced my previous two or
three crashes per day to maybe one crash every two days.
