It's accurate. At the bottom of the Spectra Community home page (
http://spectrasource.macromedia.com ) there is now a link labelled Spectra
1.5.2 Announced, which describes this new release as a minor update to
consolidate all the bug fixes to date and provide support for ColdFusion MX.
Previous to this I remember reading on Ray Camden's personal site a mention
that they were working on a final MX compatible version of Spectra, at which
point Macromedia would end their development and he would move into the CFMX
product development team ( since he's currently on the Spectra team which is
going away ).

If I had a choice, I would recommend that clients find an alternative to
Spectra. That's not always a choice we have. If you're looking for a CF
alternative, they're out there, however. I can't speak for SiteObjects
personally since they primarily keep their software in-house (
http://www.siteobjects.com ), but you might also have a glance at Tapestry
on my site ( http://www.turnkey.to ) or NetQuest's NQContent (
http://www.nqcontent.com ) although I'm personally even less familiar with
this one. I might also recommend having a look at CommonSpot from PaperThin
( http://www.paperthin.com ) although my understanding is that it has a
completely different bent than Spectra. All of these are CF
content-management solutions which may or may not be reasonable alternatives
to Spectra.

My appologies if I left anyone out, these are just the high-powered
CF-driven cms I can think of off the top of my head.
