Dave Watts of figleaf didn't start programming at the age of 4 years old? There's hope for me after all !! *grin
Jay Miller P.S. - Here Here for remote employees - My company is now almost 8 years old and I work from home - on a daily basis with my 20 month old daughter, haven't put on shoes during an office day in about 3 years and love it. I also have people in Texas, New Orleans, North Carolina and Alberta Canada working for me from Flash programmers to Director Lingo guys to coldfusion. While I have yet to move to a beach to run the business - it's the same sort of freedom. P.S.S - On the down side - interaction between employees and for idea generation and brain storming is alot more productive and flowing than IM or Email. Everything has a downside while everything has an upside. Dave Watts wrote: No one should choose to be a programmer for the short hours and easy money. What short hours?? I don't think I'd even call it easy money... I would admit that I like getting paid for my hobby and I'd probably be a programmer even if no one paid me for it (assuming I could make a living doing anything else!). I think you misread the intent of my statement: http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=irony <http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=irony> The funny thing is, before I became a programmer, I worked with other programmers as a technical writer; I saw the insane hours they put in and swore up and down that I'd never be so stupid as to become a programmer myself. And then, the internet became popular, and ColdFusion made programming easy, and I got sucked into the "programmer lifestyle". So, thanks a bunch, Allaire. If it weren't for you guys, I'd be a lawyer right now - and I'd be somewhere other than in front of a computer right now.
