As long as you're not interested in trying out Flash Remoting, you can use
Flash MX with CF 5 or earlier versions. Flash Remoting relies on CF MX.

You can also run CF MX on the same machine that's currently running an
earlier version of CF. Just select the "standalone" option during the CF MX
install. CF MX will then use its own built-in web server, which will listen
on port 8500 by default.
