Thanks, Dave. That's just what I needed to know. I figured that Flash MX would require CF MX for remoting, which is really what I'm interested in. I'm focusing development on web-based applications, which typically require users to jump from page to page to get information in and out of a database, but confuses users who are used to software-based apps.
I'm hoping Flash MX, Flash Remoting, and CF MX will solve some of the problems. I've never been too keen on the design interface of flash, however. >CF MX will then use its own built-in web server, which will listen on port 8500 by default. Both CF versions will operate concurrently, just listening on different ports? I don't have to stop one to start the other? As long as you're not interested in trying out Flash Remoting, you can use Flash MX with CF 5 or earlier versions. Flash Remoting relies on CF MX. > I'm in the middle of projects and can't change CF versions > now... You can also run CF MX on the same machine that's currently running an earlier version of CF. Just select the "standalone" option during the CF MX install. CF MX will then use its own built-in web server, which will listen on port 8500 by default.
