actually they do a proximity calculation every page impression.

This is all very well, but my customers always seem to agree that their
internet site primarily needs to be fast and reliable over a 56.6 k link
or it is utterly useless.  I have looked at most of the links people
have supplied in this thread and either they need one or more special
downloads to view the data (In my book even Flash comes into this
category) or the sites don't seem to work at all.  The state of things
at the moment seem to be that if you wanted the nearest microbrew pubs
with directions to your bank's ATM stops along the way it would be
quicker to go there and look up and down the street!

And then I read about nightmarish server installation problems Etc. Etc.
and I realize that I am not missing out one bit by doing what I am doing
at the moment, which is entirely within CF.  Maybe in a few years
time...
