Just to bring this uo to date:

I still cannot get a winNT shared folder from Mac OS X.

The WinNT is SP 6, and runs under VPC emulation

I have tried every combination of the VPC/WinNT/OS X settings to no
avail.

I have tried wireless (DHCP) and ethernet PPPoE connections.

I have the best success with:

VPC Networking -- Shared Networking Using Sockets

WinNT TCP/IP Properties -- Obtain an IP address from A DHCP server

I am able to share the wireless/DSL connection with the Mac, e.g. I can
access the web with IE under WinNT

  ipconfig returns:

      IP Address.................. 192.168.131.81
      Subnet Mask.............. 255.255.255.0
      Default Gateway........ 192.168.131.254

From WinNT, I can successfully ping the IP and the gateway

From OS X I cannot ping either.

When I try and connect via SMB from OS X I get

       IP Address........................ error = -36

Gateway Address............ does bad things to the Mac OS -- I get
                                                    a dimmed screen that
tells me to power off--
                                                    everything else is
disabled

So, it looks like the VPC/WinNT portion is working, but the Mac OS X
portion isn't.

BTW the VPC document is just about worthless -- a bunch of circular
links, peppered with "Ask your system administrator".

I wonder if this is a Jaguar thing?

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to setup a system where I can run MS-Access on the VPC/NT
machine and interface it with CFMX running on OS X.

OpenLink says this is possible with their software if I can get WinNT
and OS X talking.

TIA

Dick
