Is that one of the policies for your list, Mike? Is that the topic becomes a "bother?" When people are passionate about something, does it then become inappropriate?
I realize you want to keep inappropriate bickering and squabbling from the list, and keep the community healthy, but feeding the Christians to the lions to please the pagans is not the way to do it. Your response, based on the overwhelming OT and WOT stuff that appears on this list, should have been to tell those who didn't like the original invitation that their perspective was wrong and their was nothing wrong with the invitation just because of the type of person who issued it. If you do believe that, then you took the cowardly way out by sacrificing the truth for convenience. If you don't believe that, then you really are biased in your judgment of what's appropriate for the list and what's not. With great power comes great responsibility. You bend the rules constantly be allowing coded profanity in many messages, which you probably have rules against, but you never speak against that even though it offends. But let the word Christian appear, and you would think that the worst profanity had been uttered. All we ask is for fair judgment. Not judgment that the most convenient. Freedom is necessary, even when it's untidy. If it weren't for the Christians who founded this nation, we woudn't even be posting here. We'd be like the Chinese, who lack the freedom to discuss anything that might cause problems. I was prepared to let the original invitation be the one and only post concerning this topic as the author intended, but others who were "offended" started this and should be the ones chastised for inappropriate list-behavior. I'm prepared to end it here, unless someone else insists on continuing...and I would say, based on the responses I've seen, the opinions are running pretty strongly that something's wrong with the response to this situation... Dave, As I posted to you off list, I pick on ALL of the OT threads that start to become a bother. If I ask for it to be moved and its not, then its a perfect candidate. If it goes on for more than 3 or so posts, its a perfect candidate. If it causes people to debate the issue as you are doing below then it definitely has to be moved. If you or anyone else would like to talk to me about my policies, I'll be up till 1am for OFF LIST posts. If someone wants to have it on list, PLEASE MOVE IT TO CF-COMMUNITY WHERE IT FITS. You can even subscribe temporarily just for this thread. > With all due respect Michael, why pick on this thread, with all of the OT > stuff that comes through?
