Vince brings up a good point. Certainly, a little competition would be good for ColdFusion and allow the evolution of CFML to be market driven instead of controlled by Macromedia. Sun has had great success with their JCP program because it allows for a single Java standard, but input from many different vendors. Critics of JCP may argue that it isn't true standardization like ECMA or ISO would provide, but I doubt anyone would prefer Sun didn't provide JCP at all.
I think it would be great if Macromedia started a similar program allowing for more formal input from the community. Such a program might even allow those of us who feel ignored by Macromedia to obtain more effective responses.
