Chris, Ben is referring to the common practice of including a prefix (or sometimes a suffix) to indicate the "type" of the variable. Settling on a naming convention can be very useful when (as is sometimes the case) you have to work through hundreds of variables. For example:
iVar --- probably an integer strVar -- probably a string stVar -- probably a structure arVar -- probably an array qryVar -- probably a query etc. There's lots of folks out there with suggestions on the topic. The main thing is - make your choices practical and be consistent. Use underscores or "intercase" (WordsStuckTogetherWithTheFirstLetterCapitalized) and be descriptive within reason. -mk -----Original Message----- From: Chris Montgomery [mailto:lists@;airtightweb.com] Sent: Friday, November 01, 2002 2:07 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: Question About Macromedia Docs & Naming Conventions Howdy, Am working thru Ben Forta's Certification Study Guide and have a question. He makes reference in a couple of places to MM's documentation and training materials that recommend prefixing complex data (arrays, structures, etc) with lowercase letters (ex: a for arrays, st for structures). I don't have access to any formalized training materials, but I am curious as to what MM documentation he is referring to. Anyone know? Thanks.
