I understand that and I also understand this is derived from Hungarian
notation.

correct, pick a consistent convention and stick to it.

I was just curious exactly where in MM's docs they make their
recommendations for naming conventions. It isn't that important, I was
just wondering aloud. I'll punch through the pubs that I have after my
cert test on Monday and see if I can find the specific references.
