and one more thing to note, the mark as read, does just that...but
it doesn't hide the envelope from your tray....what I would think
is the optimal situation is to hide the envelope, but don't mark as
read....

make sense?

Can you not just mark it as READ and highlight it with a colour as part
of
the message rule?

That way the new message notification should ignore it, but when you
come to
look at CFTalk you should be able to see what's new and remove the
highlighting.

I must confess I've never tried this though..... (Obsessive compulsive
too!
And Tony is right... Beer is a cure. ;o) )
