Macromedia is a kick ass company. I have used their products since 95 and
every version of their software is better than the next. Cold Fusion was
the perfect compliment to their existing product line and I imagine they
have big plans for it. Heck, CFMX is a huge step forward as is! Macromedia
was a big part of this. I think CF has more of a future now than it did
prior to the merger.

Macromedia will continue to improve CF, just like they have improve all of
their other core products with each release. Macromedia bought a company
called, I believe it was, "Swish". A little company with some kind of a
vector plugin. That was in 95, and now Flash is now the most widely
supported plugin and has complete dominance of the on-line rich media
market. And now they have the freakin perfect compliment for that product
in CFMX. They have made huge advanced with ActionScript. The list goes on.
CFMX is truly an awesome product (minus a few quirks ;) )

And then there's Director (which has a fairly deep programming language of
itself - lingo), every single version of Director get's considerably
better. If you need to create an interactive CDROM, what do you use?
Director. I wonder if they will create some sort of integration with
Director? Who knows. Point is Macromedia is not going to let CF die! They
make their products better over time.

Macromedia is a very smart company - Firms that our now strictly Flash,
will be using CFMX soon and vice versa, and IMHO, very well positioned.
