> Prices on MM with NO Subsciption > ColdFusion MX for JRun(1 CPU) = US $3,399 > ColdFusion MX for JRun(2 CPU) = US $6.798 > JRun 4(1 CPU License) = US $899 > JRun 4(2 Cpu License) = US $1799
> Basically 2 CPU box cost = US $8597 Hate to go completely off-topic here, but I think the pricing and totaling of these figures says something completely else. Okay, so the total was $8597 base investment for a 2 processor box right? Well the question that we as developers and integrators should be asking is "What is the return of this investment?" If the figures don't match up... get out of it, don't get involved with such technology... personally I find the money that our (and others') operation is making off of Macromedia's technology to be completely justified. You can run a pretty bang-up operation off of $9k+ and a 2 processor box if you have the right idea (considering the scalability and performance of J2EE). Hell, I know of some pretty sick operations that are running off of one box and CF5. The right PROFITABLE idea, that is - a fault that too many in the .com blowouts have been susceptible to - they don't/didn't have one.
