I use a 3rd party popup blocker called PopNot ... very good, very intelligent popup 
killer. Domain based rules with wildcards, so a rule for "yahoo.com" gets applied to 
all yahoo sites for instance. Rules for individual popups (so I can disallow all on 
all sites, allow all on yahoo.com and then disallow individual popups on yahoo.com -- 
produces the least amount of maintenance / customization for the popup killer tool 
itself). A customizable log I've never used. Too bad it only works with IE, but then 
I'm really only using it because IE doesn't really have its own popup controls. :)
