The Web Server edition is intended for one thing only - running a web/application server. As such, it's a pretty good bargain at around $400. As long as you're only going to put a web/application server on it, and you don't need more than 2 Gb of memory, I'd recommend it. You can install MySQL or other non-MS database servers on it, but I wouldn't generally recommend it for that anyway. It simply won't allow you to run MS SQL Server, period. I think this limitation is hard-coded into the OS to prevent licensing violations. > Does anyone have any experience to share regarding the installation > of RedSky on 2K3 full/web edition? Yes, in both cases, it's very nice and easy. I've been using Windows Server 2003 Web and Enterprise Editions with it since early Red Sky betas. I wrote a short article about the two of them for CFDJ, which should be out soon I guess. > Finally, I am currently running 4.5. How big of a hassle is > the upgrade from 4.5 to RedSky? Clean installs are always preferable, of course, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting CFMX 6.1 working on your existing CF 4.5 server. Have you tested your 4.5 code under CFMX 6.1, though? That's where the trouble may occur.
