17" PB 1 GHz G4, 1 Gig RAM

Eclipse 118.73 MB Real, 587.05 Virtual RAM  19 threads.

But why should that be an issue:

1) The OS & hardware do Virtual Memory Management
2) Java has been optimized (by Apple) to use the OS and Quartz

Is it related to the way Java uses the heap/stack?
