You might want to consider a Mac -- OS X 4 (Tiger) is in Apple
Developer beta now - scheduled for release early 2005.

I have been running it since August -- my G5 (64 bit)

Apples Xserves are said to be quite good price/performers and very
competitive.

OS X Server software is priced quite well  -- said to be much lower
than win.

OS X Serve Tiger plays nicely with other boxes  (OS X, 'Nix & win)

Tiger's release (64-bit) should beat Shorthorn by at least a year -- so
you could prolly recoup your investment before a win solution is even
available.

-- It couldn't hurt!
