and what makes you say that?  It runs under most J2EE app servers with
no need for CF.  In fact its planned to run uner the .NET platform,
eh?  Yeah, using webservices with it works well with CF as its so easy
to build a WS in CF, but for larger datasets you are gonna need Java
for the AMF hook up to pass binary data abit faster.

To me Flex is similar to CF, a jsp tag lib that does kick ass stuff in
a few short lines.  For example, I built a dynamically grown tree
control based on data from a webservice that represents a people soft
positional reporting tree in like 100 lines.  It is initialised with
our president, click on his name and the employees reporting to him
are added to the tree below him, click on one of them, etc...

Yeah, the cost is high, if your in a large company, use a software
vendor, get it cheaper :)
