I don't pay nuffin... they give a 50% discount to CFUG members, and
sponsor the meetings. I have 2 sites, mine and a client, hosted there
at the moment, so my hosting is effectively free.

I am a reseller, so even if it weren't for the CFUG connection, my
hosting is covered, I make a comission on my contributions, I've got a
portal to work through. I'm also giving input to other packages on the
reseller side, allowing direct input from my branded site to their
ticketing system, a possible webservices API for custom interface
design, and other services for *my* clients on their system.

Their support site allows direct input of tickets from my end, plus
complete control over my DNS entries, including granular control over
A, MX, and CNAME records. Also, they have a very attractive sales rep.

They're local.

I know the owners and we're working out some new plans, though I can't
really even allude to specifics because, in the end, I have input but
they're still not my plans.

They restrict hosted site counts per server for their shared
platforms, raising costs a bit but increasing performance.

Their combinations of services... i.e. shared SSL, VPN, DB, disk space
allotments, FTP space outside the webroot, email and webmail client,
etc., COUPLED with the availability of complete DNS control are going
to be hard to match on limited-numbers shared platforms from any other
provider.

They've been upgrading all their own hosting systems to Gigabit
ethernet. Also, they have a very attractive sales rep, though she's
married...

It's not all about costs, man, it's about "VALUE." I get more value
from them than I could elsewhere, and some of that value is
intangible, like the CFUG and personal connection... and some of it's
tangible, like the DNS support, ticket input system, and free hosting
for reseller partners.

Did I mention that their sales rep is attractive and fun, even if she's married?

Anyway... check out this blog entry for my whole opinion on the subject:
