I've tried that setting, but as I've mentioned before, sometimes people
send mail to cftalk instead of cf-talk. The mail goes through but it gets
sent to my main box, where I have to open it up and look at the header to
sort manually. (I'm on more than one ColdFusion list, so I can't accurately
go by the subject line or the message body.) This also happens when
somebody sends a message to a list designated in their email address book.
So, lets say I have I am on three coldfusion help lists and I set up an
alias in my address book that is called "CF-Help" and I use that as the
address when I need to help really fast and want to send to all three
lists. This can change the to address to "CF-Help" depending on my email
settings and the CC address isn't being used. So your filter has just
failed. I get messages like this and they end up in my default mail folder,
so if I don't sort them by hand, when I go to the CF-Talk mail folder the
message is missing from the thread. What would be really nice is if my
email client at work had a filter by Reply-to, but it doesn't. Netscape
mail does and I use that at home, but that filter fails sometimes too,
again depending on the sender's email settings. I don't really complain
about it much because it isn't a huge problem to look at the header, but it
*would* be better if I never had to do that.
You see, not everyone is willing to use the most insecure email client in
existence, which would be Outlook. I've never sent someone a virus and I
like it that way. ;)
