I've never experienced this. We just took our SQL servers down for an
upgrade last week. No CF server reboots were required. I guess mileage
may very from server to server. I've certainly had some horrible issues in
the past that no on else seemed to experience.

While on the topic, there is another funODBC type bug.
If your SQL Server goes offline and the CF DSN's cannot connect, this also
totally kills coldfusion, regardless of if a site has a SQL DSN or not.
I expect the same is true for other database sevrers.

It was the ODBC connection to access under load that caused the ODBC server
hang in CFMX which resulted in a failure connection to all odbc DSN's server
wide. It was a fairly well documented bug.

I took Russ's failover comment to mean server wide, not site specific. In
the very least we were talking about CFMX capabilities not Microsoft Access
capabilities.

How can drivers fix Access' shortcomings? (just in an ornery mood this
morning :-) )
