The answer to the first question would be a bit lengthy. However, as to the
specific user account I run CF in, it's typically a local user within no
existing groups. I give it the privileges necessary to run a service ("log
on as a service") and rights to two directories - RWXD to where the CF
binaries live, and RX to the web root. Specific operations, such as file
upload, will need additional permissions, and you can tighten up ACLs quite
a bit beyond what I described above as well.
