In all the AJaX discussion I've seen a lot of "i did that years ago with frames", but I don't recall anyone coming back with reasons how the MS XmlHttpRequest is better. Refresh the hidden frame, then use JavaScript to pass the data to the main display... seems to work just as well, from what I've seen, and browser support is a little better (older Moz, etc).
