I can confirm that XStandard Pro DOES do this...although the free
version does not. I had tried a demo of it recently, and pasting from
a Word document with images caused the editor to start uploading the
images...it was set to upload them to
http://soap.xstandard.com/attachmentlibrary.aspx ...presumably, if you
have some compatible web service, you can set a parameter and upload
to your own server. They were automatically named with a generated
id, and were presented as jpgs and gifs...which may have matched what
the original source images had been...I didn't check.

But the fact that it relies on a plug-in or activex control is a
problem, unless you are in a controlled environment. And, yes, the
formatting of the word document, even things like bold and font
colors, were stripped out...however the tables were kept intact.
