Not to mention that there's strength in numbers. Why would someone want to switch when they can find numerous online resources to issues / problems they're having with more widely adopted DBs?
How can they be sure that you'll continue to support / upgrade this solution? Sure, individual queries may well run faster, but if all we cared about was speed, we wouldn't use RDBMSs.
