Sure, a simple integration of Ajax is simple enough, you start getting deep
into DOM manipulation and true RIA application development it can and does
take hours.

I am not talking about simply taking an Ajax CFC or lib and getting it to
talk to a remote page, I am talking real app dev.

What in AJAX are you finding to take hours? It seems like now days a lot of
the more common AJAX needs can be quickly met with any number of the
existing offerings online. I'd think if AJAX is integrated into CF that it
would be for the same common AJAX needs and more complex things would still
take hours to write.
