Cutter, To openly state that to build a full Flex application isn't wise is wrong.
Using Flex to build multiple Flash components actually takes away from the framework as a whole and its best features. With every Flash component loaded, every piece that could be re-used from one page to the next needs to be cached separately, instead of being loaded once and re-used thereafter. I'm not saying there's something wrong with using Flex like this, but it surely isn't a better method than creating the application completely in Flex. @@ << 2cents !k -----Original Message----- From: Cutter (CFRelated) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, October 13, 2006 9:13 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: Re: CF & AJAX & FLEX, The future of them; the future of web? Benign, Personally I see Flex Development as a way to develop component applications for use within a site/application, not as a way of developing of developing an entire site/application. This isn't to say that it's not possible to do so, just not the wisest thing to do overall. Part of the huge compaint of Flash sites in the past is that the entire site is Flash, and from a usability standpoint a lot of flash was being used just to be 'flashy' rather than creating efficient, dynamic applications. Flex has made it easier for developers (aka non-designers) to develop Flash applications, which can be used as 'components' (pods?) within a page/site. I see well developed sites as a combination of CF, AJAX, and Flex/Flash. Okay these technologies are competing with each other or just cooperate. Will CF be eliminated and becomes just a part of Flex, or Flex and Ajax compete till one day one can kill the other one? Or they will live together and help each other to become more powerful rich internet application? > It will be very great if you let me know your point of view. > Thanks > Benign > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Introducing the Fusion Authority Quarterly Update. 80 pages of hard-hitting, up-to-date ColdFusion information by your peers, delivered to your door four times a year. http://www.fusionauthority.com/quarterly Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Talk/message.cfm/messageid:256764 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4
