Ultimately, who cares? Vista/MS will still be the dominant OS long after we have finished up coding. And so what that it is trying to be like a Mac? Immutation = flattery as far as I am concerned, I use Windows as I have to.
I hated Macs pre-Intel/OS X, they were crap and then some. Granted now, they are not only faster than most off the shelf PCs (and would run Vista better than even the top end PC!) they look damn good. I still hate the "kiddies" look of OSX it's just plain stupif, but that's me. (the same way I hate the crappy XP one!).. First thing I do is throw it into Windows Classic!). I plan to get a Mac for home use but I will primarily be running Windows on it and only going in to OSX to test x-browser stuff, unless I can find a way to do it via VMWare in Windows now. You will *never* see Widespread use of Macs outside of the home - and even the home is a small market as I can go to Dell etc and get a £499 notebook with software where as a nice Apple will cost be 4x as much. They will certainly not be huge in a corp environment, that time has come and gone, Apple had a chance and they blew it by being stubborn - they just wouldn't be accepted or cut it for a corp environment. Remember now, that something like 40% (if not more) of Apples revenue is from iPods (probable the only thing to keep it afloat to be honest), the iPhone is doomed to fail as is the iTV box or whatever it is. "The line between windows and mac is really starting to blur... " its kinda ironic that windows is the dominant os but they are really trying to imitate a mac now. oh well, at least the icons are purdier now ;) >I don't know about Linux, but macs are starting to look better and better. >You can also run parallels on it, and the latest beta has a feature called >coherence that allows you to run windows apps in their own windows as part >of the mac... no need to switch back and forth from the windows VM. > >The line between windows and mac is really starting to blur... > >Russ > >> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Create robust enterprise, web RIAs.
