Im not familiar with the pricing but I can say it was easy to setup. basically we pointed images.domain.com to akamai. Then we created an images-mirror.domain.com
All images had full url http://images.domain.com/image.jpg When the user requests the page if akamai doesnt have the image they request it from images-mirror and then serve it up. Big improvement! on Speed not to mention less traffic to our servers. We even looked at using their DNS services too.
