POP3 and IMAP aren't just (or even primarily) for programmers. As part
of the Google Apps training we provide at Fig Leaf, I teach end users
how to migrate their mail from existing systems like Outlook/Exchange
to GMail/Google Apps. It's very simple to do, and only takes a few
minutes to set up.

That said, this is still far beyond the scope of this list.
