I think some of the complaining is from people that 'fear' learning an Eclipse style IDE. At the Twin Cities CFUG a week ago a few people expressed that they didn't want to learn such a complicated IDE. That and having to actually pay for software came up again. I did point out the free edition.
I think there will always be a segment that wants free software that is simply a text type editor. That's fine, but others like myself do want a powerful IDE.
