If your primary goal is just to get this infrastructure out of your garage, you could set it up in Amazon. It's not going to be as cheap as a VPS, but you could run exactly what you liked, and if you don't have very much server load you might even be able to qualify for the AWS Free Tier. You'd have to set everything up yourself though, more or less. And as Matt points out, you may have some unintended "security features" you don't want.
