Yeah, they did basically scour their existing content, index it and so on
but, the CD definitely allowed you to perform dynamic searches, highlighted
by relevance, etc. I think that's what most people really want when they ask
"is their an 'embedded' CF?". It would be nice, of course, to have the full
functionality but, as the original poster stated, he just wants to be able
to do searches. Do you happen to know how WinNTMag was doing this? I know it
came down to one DLL, I forget the name, but, as I said earlier, no one
would/could give me any further information.
The system I'm working on now will potentially provide full CF functionality
from/on a CD. It's far from completely working but, the fundamentals are
there.

If I recall correctly, the WinNT Mag Archive CD was created using a
third-party "web-scouring" product, which would save files to the disk with
their original extensions. They've been longtime CF users, so their site
content was provided with CF. They switched to a MS HTML Help format (which
I like better, personally).
