I encountered that issue with Intermedia regarding the server a client site
was on. At the time, they said that they had many long-term clients on the
older servers with established stable applications that were hesitant to
upgrade. While they initially made a comment regarding stability of CF
v4.51, they ultimately said it was related more to the stability of NT4
versus Win2K and that all new accounts were, in fact, being setup on
Win2K/CF v4.51. They left me with the impression they just weren't upgrading
existing NT4 servers.
Anyway, they did offer the option of moving over to a new server with either
WinNT/CF v4.51 or Win2K/CF v4.51. The transition was seamless, only took a
few moments and they kept both accounts active during DNS propogation.
If Intermedia is the vendor you're dealing with, just ask to move. They'll
give you a code to enter when setting up the new account to waive the setup
fees.
