Mike,

With out bashing IIS, the reason I still and will continue to use Website is
because IIS requires too much time to maintain and secure against all the
script kiddies. Based on the post from Bob Denny in the new website email
list I am confident that it will continue as a viable software platform.

IIS can be secured, but the time and diligence it takes to do so is more
than this little webmaster extraordinaire can afford <laugh>.

Get a copy of twwwscan (http://search.iland.co.kr) and run it against your
O'Reilly web site webs and then run it against an IIS setup. You will be
surprised.

As an example I friend of mine told me his IIS web site had no
vulnerabilities, I ran the scan and got over three pages of problems. Now
to be honest this is more and example of his proficiency, or lack of, with
IIS, but his skills are about par with the average ISP.

I prefer Website to IIS, but that is my two cents.

Best Regards,

Subject: Website vs. IIS

All the posting problems since Saturday is due to use having a new box and
the DNS moving around. One question that came up with the new box was the
webserver. I've used Website 2 for the longest time and love it. The new box
is a Win2k box and I was wondering if there was any reason that I should be
using IIS instead. Anyone know the pros and cons of this? Thanks
