My apologies Dave, I didn't mean to be negatively stereotyping Appalachian
coders. Actually I envy you; having myself hiked a hundred miles or so of
the Appalachian Trail I know how beautiful the countryside is around there
and how nice the people can be. I'm stuck in Long Beach (the Armpit of the
Universe), just south of Los Angeles. This whole area is an ugly horrid
place to live, where even the 'nicest' people are typically suspicious and
unfriendly and it's not all that uncommon for the worst of them to shoot at
each other on the freeways. As soon as my personal situation allows me to
leave here (a complicated story revolving around child custody), I am going to!
Not only do you probably have more real dollars to spend in your part of
the country, it's a safe bet you have a more real life to enjoy than does
any Los Angeleno.
