Tom and Jon, thanks for the feedback and unfortunate confirmation that there is an issue with IE 6.0. As an question/comment (more comment) I am concerned at what peculiarities might ensue in the ongoing development of Internet Explorer as .NET becomes the major imperative for all that Microsoft does. Obviously close interactivity and protection of user data is pretty much a cornerstone of a major part of .NET., what might that do to the handling of Privacy issues outside of .NET?
In this current case, we have to try and figure out what "Restricts" and " implicit consent" actually mean and how we implement a solution that works. You actually have to build the compact privacy policy... It's not too evil, just kind of hard to get used to. Sadly, I don't have the URL anymore, but there's a tool which can help you. -- jon ------------- jon roig epilepsyfoundation.org -----Original Message----- From: Brunt, Michael [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, December 28, 2001 12:18 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: IE 6.0 Cookies Default Settings Cookie Problem I recently had an apparent problem with cookies that set and work fine in IE 5.5 and earlier but caused an issue in 6.0, they were not getting set. So I looked at what I think was the default "Privacy" setting in IE 6.0 and it looks like it gets set to "Medium" on install. Which has settings as follows: - "Blocks Third Party Cookies that do not have a compact privacy policy" "Blocks Third Party Cookies that use personally identifiable information without implicit consent" "Restricts First Part Cookies that use personally identifiable information without implicit consent" Once I reset these settings in the browser to "accept all cookies" the problem went away and cookies are now set OK. It looks to me like the third setting in the Medium Group is the problem "Restricts" - whatever that may mean. Anyone else faced this issue yet?
