If I understand correctly, this is a request for the ability to run a CF
app (optionally compiled) as a stand-alone app on a PPC...

If so, this is similar to previous requests to be able to distribute a
self-contained CF app on a CD, to run on a desktop or kiosk, without the
necessity (but the ability) to interact with the web.

Not so far-fetched, IMO... like a RealBasic app on steroids.

Point: the browser is becoming an ubiquitous application interface...
could be the UI to a stand-alone CF app

Point: There are many capabilities in CF server that would be
unnecessary in a stand-alone implementation, e.g. session handling...
these could be removed or ignored.

Point: There are many good data-handlers available on the desktop... f
text files, XLS files and SQL dbs to name a few.

Apps could be written with a CF portion, running on the desktop,
interfacing local files and resources... and interfacing with a
web/intranet app, also written in CF, interfacing the server/enterprise
resources.

CF's ease of programming, and db interface would make it the hands-down
winner in stand-alone app development.

CF, then, could become the lingua franca of app development... desktop,
server, whatever!

From what I've read, php has the ability to run apps this way
