First of all, "Limit Simultaneous Requests" had nothing to do with database access, it's how many CF requests can be running at the same time, so, if you have it set to 5, and 5 requests that take 20 seconds come in, everybody else has to wait... As for database settings, it depends on how you've setup the ODBC - if you've told it to hold the connection open, then it stays open permanently, so a query will return requests faster...
