G'day Joel,

Thats yet another tool  - they seem to have dozens of names for similar but slightly different tools with similar but different menu structures and feature sets..

I looked at the scripting and it just scripts the database structure.  It includes the tables adn other dependent objects after you go through a wizard and make about 50 clicks, unlike the simple way of doing it in EntMgr.

But that's only the structure.  The data stil has to be copied table by table.  There's a very complex looping mechanism that I haven't worked out yet, even though I've been studying for several hours now and I'm up to part 15 in the tutorial on SSIS.    So I'm having to use debugging to copy teh data table by table.   I'm going to be stir-crazy by the time i've finished my total of about 350 tables over 40+ databases!!!

There's an extract wizard in the 'lite' tool which scripts automatically all the data inserts as well as the table creation, but to get to it you have to call it from the Tools menu, but the main menu bar has vanished and I cant find how to get it back.

Today would go down as one of my more frustrating days.       Microsoft have presumably wanted to enhance the database and make it work better, and in the process made it a hundred times more difficult and far less intuitive.  <sigh>  Thank you Mr Gates.

And the fact that no one has actually claimed to have uploaded a database into SQLServer2005 would tell me that no one has actually done it.  Alarm bells are ringing here at AFPWebworks Central - our NEVER BE A PIONEER alarm is going off.

Cheers

Hi,

I just had a look at the "SQL Server Management Studio Express CTP" tool that I had installed a while ago and forgotten about, and there it is, right click on a database, go to tasks, select "generate scripts" and the wizard does the rest.

Hope that helps
Joel
