Thanks Dale,  and I'm glad it's working perfectly for you.

But we're getting an error, and I'm not sure why.  Is it something I'm doing wrong or is it something to do with our server (meaning our production server, our dev server, and my PC - all set up by different people at different times).

And we've tried using CFDOCUMENT, as well as CFSAVECONTENT and CFFILE together

And it's not a report.   A user files out a complex form with 138 fields,  and the action page emails a PDF of the input to the actioning department to fulfil the order.  it needs to be a PDF not just an email becuase it needs to be controlled - cant be changed after the form is submitted.  if we just emailed it, we'd have no receipt form which would stand legal scrutint.  A PDF (if we set it properly) is fixed once created.

We use CFDOCUMENT which has a save option, so no need for SAVECONTENT OR
CFFILE.

Works perfectly.

If it's really a report, I highly recommend CFREPORT and the Report Builder.
