To reply to myself, seeing these in the application logs:
The cause of this output exception was that:
java.io.FileNotFoundException:
\\some\where\\ドリフã?®å??曲メãƒãƒ‡ã‚£ãƒ¼.doc (The system
cannot find the file specified).
So this is something wrong with the encoding of the files on the server?
But if actually cfdump the values as they come out of the database, it
seems to work OK.
